Review:
I think that you are entirely wrong on your review of The Thin Red Line. The movie was long, yes, but isn't that what war is about. Maybe you should research what the movie is about, maybe get some other opinions first. War may be death, it may be crime, hell, it can be anything you want it. There is no freaking way you can make a war movie everything. No matter what you do. The Thin Red Line portrayed something I've never seen in any other movie, it was made my new favorite movie the minute I saw it. Not only am I a WW2 Buff, but also a poet. The movie touched my heart, for it showed that soldiers have thought, it showed the "enemy" could really be ourselves, you could be the "enemy". When you think about something, you may think you think about it, but no, I know. There are certain things a person can think about, there are only three types of people I know of in my experience about people who think, but they make up such a small portion of the world, Poets, dreamers and authors. I urge you to think about movies, not only about what the audience would think, but what the movie was made for, what the movie stands for, what the world can get out of the movie. Is a movie just entertainment? Society has destroyed the image of a self-taught world the TV and movie screen were supposed to bring. Entertainment is not found in a box or a screen, leave that for information. If you want entertainment, go dancing or to a museum. The Thin Red Line stood in front of the world, naked in the shadow of Saving Private Ryan. What kind of movie do you think you'd like to see after the action and suspense of SPR? Well, I think the world was shocked by the "openness" of SPR to realize that the really open movie was the one we ignored. The THin Red Line showed the world, in the most poetic way, how we can be so ignorant, showed us how our Popular Belief system really doesn't work, because one of the best movies that could have been was created into a "failure". I'm not sure about anyone else, but the nature scenes and thought scenes were the most provoking ever.

About the author: As a poet and a WW2 Buff, I'd say the Thin Red Line was my favorite movie.
