This movie is awesome! I went into it expecting to completely hate it, but I completely loved it! I was a little miffed at the blatant misidentification of the sharks (a sand tiger shark is referred to as a tiger shark, there is a big difference; and there is no way Mako sharks could grow to be about 25 feet long and weigh three or four tons) but the movie entertained me so much I found I was able to overlook all its flaws. I figured Samuel L. Jackson would be the hero, but he gets eaten! Cool! Then the requisite big blond guy takes over. For a change, I found myself liking this big blond guy. He does a few things that are actually smart and then, at the end, proves himself totally awesome with his ability to bounce off the snouts of sharks and take a ride on their dorsal fins. (Yeah, I know, not very likely, but I loved it!) Renny Harlin has redeemed himself as a director in my eyes. P.S.-- If you didn't like this movie, screw you. I freakin' loved it and I'm going to buy it when it comes out on video. About the author: At last, an entertaining summer movie.
