Review:
This belongs in the category of "Pulp Fiction We Love" with other classics such as "Once Is Not Enough"(1975) and "The Lonely Lady" (1983). It is the tale of Barbara Sawyer (Elizabeth Taylor), a middle aged woman who undergoes painful cosmetic surgery on her face and body to re-capture the love of her husband Mark(Henry Fonda). Elizabeth Taylor fans should love it - it's Liz Taylor being Liz Taylor. There's much to enjoy - beautiful Swiss mountain scenery, Liz finding a toy boy, and Liz's beautiful clothes and hairstyles which she gazes upon in shop windows. One reviewer said that 'Liz's pain is nothing compared with what the audience has to go through' - but its not nearly as bad as that. I enjoyed its mellow charm - in an age of loud, over-the-top vulgarity and violence, that's not such a bad thing is it?
