If there's any doubt as to the fate of the Bat-film franchise, "Batman and Robin" would quickly dispel it. This movie is *bad*. Joel Schumacher's "vision" of Batman's universe is, well, atrocious, and the cast mangles their characters. George Clooney has no real Bat-charm, Arnold Schwarzenegger can't stop making corny cold-related puns, Uma Thurman is too busy revelling in her own sexiness to play an effective villain, and Alicia Silverstone is kinda blah as Batgirl. The plot is nonexistent and the gags don't even belong. The earlier Bat-films ran on the strength of their casts' performances. This movie runs on fumes. Stinky, dirty, smelly fumes. I'd have to be high on those fumes to like this film. You may read another review, submit your own, or return home. |
