If you ever find yourself given the chance to die by ravenous lions in front of thousands of cheering Romans or watching another over hyped Oscar wannabe such as Beloved; opt for the lions. At least you'll be put out of your misery in a few minutes. This is an absolute testament to why celebrities should be restricted to one area of entertainment if not banned from the industry all together. The movie is based upon Toni Morrison's book of the same name that tells a sorrowful tale of a former slave visited by the ghost/incarnation of her deceased daughter. In as little time as thiry minutes the average movie-goer knows the full story...yet is constantly bombarded with unnecessary scenes that prolong your suffering for a whopping three hours! Also anyone faint of heart beware; the movie is graphically intense as any "Faces of Death", or popular hardcore pornographic video. Expecting to see a story on how far slavery will push an individual? Then rent Roots. And leave Oprah to the mindless dribble on daytime television. About the author: Dohmoarigato.
