This movie had a little potential. Around 20 years ago, some exotic animal smuggler dumps some just-hatched Komodo Dragon eggs on a South Carolina island. 20 years later, they're all grown up and eating the tourists. Complications: Big Oil Company that now owns the island has polluted it to the point that the big lizards have nothing to eat but humans, said Big Oil Company is covering up the assorted deaths that resulted while they try to hack of the Komodos. Evaluation: This movie has nice special effects, passable acting, and passable direction. On the other hand, it has just about the worst screenplay I've ever seen. Scientific plausibility is right out the window (or did they just not know that Komodos can swim). People who are in danger from giant carnivorous reptiles walk of and leave perfectly good shotguns on the floor. The idea had a lot of potential. One wonders, then, why they decided to waste it by hiring a hack schmuck to develop the plot. |
