A scientist gets zapped into a supercomputer

No

Even as a kid, I remember being bored during this movie. I know we're supposed to be "wowed" by the computer effects, but I don't remember them being so great then and they certainly aren't good now. One of the Bridges (Jeff or Brooklyn, I can't remember) manages at least three facial expressions and everyone else in the movie is supposed to not have a personality, so they don't really add anything. Oh, and the bad guy is just a spinning bar of light that can't move, making him the scariest on-screen villain since Wilford Brimley in The Firm (dude, that oatmeal guy kicked ass!). The effects are not that dazzling, and to make them look better, the live action is muted to look like a silent movie or something. I thought it was a Smashing Pumpkins video for a while. A lot of people might say that I'm being harsh because this movie is dated and should be judged according to the time it came out it. Let's face it, it was boring then, it's boring now.

The amazing disappearing orange trick (I saw Copperfield do it once); the bit; the discus; the ship on a wire, the motorcycle-like chase; the cool desk with a built-in monitor (I want one, Daddy!).
